I designed Dorian Electra’s debut artist book, ART. Edition of 310, editioned and signed by the artist.
Dorian and I co-organized the Los Angeles launch at Heavy Manners, where I also shared a new piece of writing titled ‘On Drawing.’
“Pairing photographs and drawings across 138 pages, ART traces musician Dorian Electra’s encounters with favorite works from Antiquity through the Italian Renaissance, Rococo, Modernism, and Pop Art. Made between 2022 and 2025, these pen-and-paper pictures—studies after Rembrandt, Modigliani, Picasso, and Warhol—capture Electra’s irreverent and playfully amateurish engagement with art history. Each image appears four times removed: first as a photograph, then a drawing, a digital scan, and finally, printed in this book. Both homage and experiment, ART is a self-aware outsider's exercise in translation.“
